- This Type E-1 vest is reproduced by "Buzz Rickson's" based on vintage items. The Type E-1 emergency vest was first adopted around 1950. Among the few military vests, it is highly versatile and, like the C-1 vest issued in the 1940s, can be layered under a jacket. While the C-1 vest was made of rayon-cotton fabric, this E-1 vest features a rough-textured nylon Oxford fabric used for both the outer and inner layers. Both sides of the E-1 vest have pockets designed to hold a radio and battery, and adjustable grosgrain tape is provided to secure these heavy items so they don't shift. Furthermore, the upper part of the pockets—where the radio is inserted and removed, and its cables are routed—is reinforced with leather, detailing meticulous attention to design. Although its appearance is simple, yellow embroidery on the black label and a heat-transferred Air Force emblem tell the story of its origins in the “good old days” of flight gear, and this is precisely what makes this vest so appealing.

This jacket is a faithful reproduction of the vintage jacket based on the specs at that time, so please handle the parts with care. In particular, the zipper may be damaged if it is forcibly raised or lowered. When pulling up the zipper, be sure to pull up the metal part of the zipper slowly and carefully.
